Presbyterians affirm that God comes to us with grace and love in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose for us so that we might have eternal and abundant life in him. As Christ’s disciples, we seek to continue Christ’s mission of teaching the truth, feeding the hungry, healing the broken, and welcoming strangers. God sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, giving us the energy, intelligence, imagination, and love to be Christ’s faithful disciples in the world.

Our name, Presbyterian, comes from the Greek word Presbuteros, which means elder. Elders provide leadership in the church. We also have deacons who provide care for members and the community. Our Board of Trustees cares for the buildings and grounds as stewards of what belongs to God.

Green Hill Church is a part of the Presbyterian Church (USA). We reaffirm three major

tenets of our historic confessions and constitution:

  • That Jesus Christ alone is Lord of all and the Way of salvation.
  • That Holy Scripture is the Triune God’s revealed Word, the Church’s only infallible rule of faith and life.
  • That God’s people are called, by the grace of God, to holiness in all aspects of life.

For a contemporary statement of what Presbyterians believe, see A Brief Statement of Faith.

Some of the principals articulated by the reformer John Calvin in Europe during the 16th century remain at the core of Presbyterian beliefs and can be found here.
